Movies of 2018 so far - August

So, England didn't win the World Cup or even get to the final but our lives were put on hold for a month as we bathed in the possibility.
Indeed, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the football which was a refreshingly energetic as opposed to the seemingly neverending pile of sequels which has taken over the cinema.
Of course, my condemnation is not reserved for franchises per se - after all, I am a fan of James Bond, Harry Potter, The Godfather and the Carry On films.
But what antagonises me is that there is hardly an original movie to be seen at multiplexes.
My disenchantment is reflected in the fact that from the past 50 movies watched, there is only one new entry into the top 20.
