Oh, no, not another superhero film, I thought - but, thankfully, Bhavesh Joshi gives an intriguing new take on the genre.
It has been a real bonus that Netflix has such a strong list of Indian movies that I am able to catch up with some before the year is out.
This includes Vikramaditya Motwane's movie which has received critical acclaim but has been a major box office flop.
I must admit its failure to attract audiences baffled both Mrs W and myself who were impressed by its action and moral messages.
Perhaps cinema audiences in India have already been sated by the avalanche of movies about establishment corruption.
Motwane's film stars Priyanshu Painyuli, Harshvardhan Kapoor and Ashish Verma as three friends who join the mass movement against dishonesty in Indian politics
When the protest fizzles out they are undaunted and go it alone in trying to put wrongs right.
Initially, this takes the form of stopping men from peeing in the street or driving the wrong way up a one-way street.
But things become altogether more serious when they clash with those who are syphoning off Mumbai's water supply for political ends.
The trio have different reactions to the methods of tackling those at the heart of the scandal because they know their careers or even their lives could be put into jeopardy.
Indeed, they face tragedy before there can even be hope of victory,
Bhavesh Joshi Superhero should have attracted audiences because it attacks big important issues in Indian society in an accessible manner.
However, its one central problem is its 15 certificate. The biggest cinema hits tend to have a 12A but the violence here takes the movie out of the family sphere.
I reckon its makers took their eye off the target. Bloody deaths and injuries could have been toned down and the message would have been wider spread.
Instead, we were left to admire its acting, direction, pace and political intentions but we were among the few.

Director quote - Vikramaditya Motwane: "The idea stems from my living in Bombay (Mumbai), having grown up here and having seen the city change and some not-so-good things which happened. You get angry about them and want them to change, but what can you do? And the typical thing (to think) is: “I wish I could wear a mask and go whack somebody to do the right job.”

The big question - Who are the real-life superheroes?
