Yes, I did sit through an hour and 21 minutes of Peppa Pig, her family and friends speaking Chinese.
Earlier this year, the BBC reported that the series had 18 billion online views in China since it was launched there seven years ago.
Its article stated:  "The story of Peppa and her unfeasibly English middle-class family is arguably, doing more for Brand Britain than the Beatles, Manchester United and any of the culinary delights - for which the UK is rightly so renowned - put together."
Apparently, the trailer to Peppa's celebration of Chinese new year received a billion hits.
And, interestingly, the Chinese have made this Peppa film more ambitious than her first foray into cinema which was no more than a bit of play-acting between several convention Cbeebies-style episodes.
During Dapeng Zhang's film, there is a real-life story about a family celebrating Chinese new year with a few songs thrown in.
Interestingly, it is a very traditional story with a very traditional family make-up.
So, the two children have perfect parents and four grandparents who fit the stereotypes of male and female (the men are emotionally stunted and the grandmas gently joust over the quality of their respective cooking abilities).
Their jollity is punctuated by ten-minute animations Peppa and her very English family (speaking Chinese), welcoming Chinese friends and also celebrating the new year but also getting involved in a few other adventures.
And, of course, they all love splashing in muddy puddles!
It all makes for a mix which has intoxicated Chinese children and taken the beloved oinker on to a new level.
This is the year of the pig... Peppa Pig!

Reasons to watch: To see how Peppa Pig translates
Reasons to avoid: I can't imagine little ones in the UK being able to read the fast sub-titles

Did you know? The world’s first “Peppa Pig World of Play” attraction opened to the public in a Shanghai mall. The attraction, covering an area of 1,100 square meters, offers kids and their families an immersive and interactive journey of adventure with Peppa and her friends.

The final word: Olivier Dumont, eOne Family managing director: "Peppa is everywhere around the world, apart from Japan, and it resonates in the same manner.  It’s about family values and family life, which is true for any preschooler anywhere in the world.  Peppa is great because it’s animals, so you’re not facing the “kids looking western” issue, it’s pigs and it’s red, which both work well for China.Animation World Network
