166. Baaghi 3; movie review

BAAGHI 3
Cert 12A
143 mins
BBFC advice: Contains moderate violence, threat

What a giant mess of a movie.
Baaghi 3 was ludicrous on such a scale that I felt myself becoming angrier and angrier.
Its founding sentiment of brotherly love is taken to such an extreme as to be stupid while representations of the Indian Police and terrorists in Syria are simply ridiculous.
As for Tiger Shroff's hero... he not only takes on an entire terrorist camp on his own but fights off three attack helicopters with his bare hands.
As for his acting ability... he makes Gerard Butler look like John Gielgud.
But, who cares as long as he keeps taking his shirt off and exposes the most dazzling six-pack in the movies?
Shroff plays Ronnie whose sole task, following the death of their father, is to stand up for his weakling brother, Vikram (Riteish Deshmukh).
While Ronnie has the brains and brawn to take on all-comers (as well as helicopters and tanks), it is his sibling who somehow becomes a police inspector.
With no discernible talents other than being able to call on his powerhouse brother, Vikram not only gets a top job but also hooks up with a beautiful girl (Ankita Lokhande).
And then he is sent on a trip to Syria.
Yes, that Syria. The one which would require a special visa in order to visit and which has been ripped apart by civil war.
He surely can't shout for his brother if he gets in trouble there can he?
Of course, he can and, when he does, Ronnie is on the next plane out with his girlfriend (Shraddha Kapoor).
So, never mind that this is one of the most dangerous places on earth, if Ronnie takes his shirt off he is bound to win the day.
Honestly, it is crass beyond crass.
Why give is as many as 2.5/10 out of 10? Because I cannot deny Shroff's athleticism - it is a sight to behold.
Beyond that, there is absolutely no reason to watch Baaghi 3.

Reasons to watch: If you are a Tiger-Shroff action film fan
Reasons to avoid: Unfunny and banal

Laughs: None
Jumps: None
Vomit: None
Nudity: None
Overall rating: 2.5/10

Did you know? Tiger Shroff's real name is Jai Hemant Shroff. He used to bite like a tiger as a kid and so his dad lovingly named him Tiger

The final word. Tiger Shroff: " I’ve never received a good review in my life. For me, what matters most is the public word of mouth. And box-office is important too. I feel action is a universal language. The highest-grossing films have been action films the world over.” Cinema Express
