Would 100% Wolf have survived the entire summer and beyond on national cinema screens if we hadn't been in the grip of a worldwide pandemic?
Obviously, not I would suggest.
But only one of the summer blockbusters has been released so picture houses are reverting to re-releases of kids' films to bulk out their schedules.
Thus, this fast-moving but not especially funny animation is still running after its July release.
It centres on a young boy called Freddy (voiced by Ilai Swindells) who is desperate to become a werewolf in common with his family.
He is particularly keen to follow in the footsteps of his father (Jai Courtney), the pack leader, who dies in tragic circumstances.
There are echoes of the Lion King here because his evil uncle (Rupert Degas) blames him for his dad's death while wanting to be the high howler himself.
Thus, it plays right into his hands that Freddy transforms not into a wolf but a poodle when it comes to his calling.
If there is an explanation for this, I missed it.
Anyway, Freddy's redemption must come from retrieving a missing gem which is apparently important to the werewolves so he darts off in search and has myriad adventures on the way.
And he makes an initially wary friendship with a very independent dog (Samara Weaving) who joins him in his quest.
Alexs Stadermann's movie doesn't make a fat lot of sense but I don't suppose that will matter too much to its target audience who are the under-10s.
They will be preoccupied laughing at the toilet jokes but at least they will receive the subliminal message about making friendships where you least expect them.

Did you know? Comparing genomes with many wolves and modern dog breeds suggested that dogs were domesticated in Asia at least 14,000 years ago and their lineages split some 14,000 to 6,400 years ago into East Asian and Western Eurasian dogs.

The final word: Alexia Gates-Foale, producer: “We loved joining Freddy on his adventure – and we are convinced that kids around the globe will too.” Filmfestivals.com
