It is my regret that we did not see Billie Eilish perform live when we were at Glastonbury Festival in 2019.
I have enjoyed her music since and think she would have put on a good show.
That opinion was reinforced in R.J.Cutler's revealing but overly long documentary The World's A Little Blurry.
This is a chronicle of Eilish's development from writing songs in her bedroom with her brother Finneas O'Connell to international superstardom.
It is an astronomical rise which understandably takes its toll on her emotions.
Thankfully, she has a strong support network around her, including parents and friends but she is little prepared for the sudden demands.
These range from the physical and mental stresses of performance  to handling adulation of fans who hang on her every word.
In many ways, Eilish is just a normal kid trying to explore life but has now found herself under permanent spotlight.
Anyway, we see her creating songs, bursting on to the charts and becoming a stadium superstar whose lyrics touch so many.
She pleases and worries her parents and management in almost equal measure.
Cutler's film shows that her life is tougher than she or anyone else would expect. It is a documentary of its time.

Did you know? At the 2020 Grammy Awards, Billie Eilish made history as only the second artist and the youngest in history to win the top four awards: Best New Artist, Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Album of the Year.

The final word. R.J.Cutler: "It was very clear to me from the beginning that here was this amazing opportunity to tell the story of a young artist coming of age and of this young woman coming of age.  As a subject, it was very exciting for me. And of course, it was impossible not to recognise that I was [going to be part of the] international filmmaking landscape." Cinema Daily
