Oh, for the chance to watch the world of Beatrix Potter in the company of a child - only then will we really be able to gauge its magic.

I can recall being enthralled by the tales of great author as a youngster but have a feeling Potter's work became less popular when our son and daughter were growing up.

However, over the last decade, thanks to animations like these and the Peter Rabbit feature films, the magic is being enjoyed by another generation.

Anyway, the Spring Adventures are three short stories about him and his friends and are aimed at the very young.

They are clever because they are educational without being preachy and they have a main character who is far from perfect but has a good heart.

Peter and his pals Benjamin and Lily are at the heart of the stories which inevitably see them attempting to outwit Mr Todd, a fox who wants to eat them.

Meanwhile, they discover whether a four-leaf clover can really bring luck, what happens to nature when spring arrives and have an adventure when asked to look after Mrs Puddleduck's egg.

The animation is a tad clunky by modern standards but these were films which were initially shown on TV ten years ago.

Indeed, they are still available on demand now so I am not sure why any parent would pay for their child to see them.

Although, I guess they might fit as a first cinema experience.
