Oh, crikey... would a super bright young woman really go for someone who beats people up for money because of his physique and good looks?

Surely, life isn't quite that shallow, is it?

Beautiful Disaster is about bad decisions made by attractive people, centred on Dylan Sprouse's fighter Travis and college new girl Abby (Virginia Gardner).

In Roger Kumble's dismal romance, Travis may have iron knuckles but it turns out he also has a heart of gold and is not too dim.

However, there are so many elements to their "Will they, won't they?" relationship which rankle they almost prompted me to shout at the screen.

The film's opening sees Abby leaving her home in Las Vegas and her father who has relied on her talent to win at poker to finance their lives, despite her youth.

She wants to be a normal college kid, so takes up an offer in Sacramento and pays for her tuition fees with the cash she has earned on the tables.

Libe Barer plays her best friend who invites her out on her first night when she falls at first sight for the aforementioned underground bruiser.

From then on, Beautiful Disaster comprises Abby denying her attraction for Travis when everyone knows they are going to get together.

There are farcical tangents throughout the film but essentially, it is little more than a combination of lithe, young bodies and a pitifully poorly scripted storyline.
