BABY BOOM CZYLI KOGEL MOGEL 5
Cert 12A
87 mins
BBFC advice: Contains  strong language, moderate sex references, sexual violence references

"Why does nobody ever say what it (having a baby) is really like?"
"Because it's a conspiracy of parents. If they said anything, humanity would become extinct."
A desperate young husband and wife try to make some sense of having a baby that will not sleep in one of the more amusing exchanges during Baby Boom Czyli Kogel Mogel 5.
This is the latest in a comedy franchise that stretches back to 1988 and includes some original characters.
I saw the fourth instalment two years ago in the small Savoy cinema in Nottingham, and the Polish speakers in the audience were laughing along with the slapstick comedy.
There are fewer physical gags this time as the same team returns, taking up their story from where it left off.
However, the happy young couple, played by Nikodem Rozbicki and Aleksandra Hamkalo, are even more stressed than they were when they were trying to marry.
Because their baby is driving them crazy.
Fortunately, her simple-minded, lovable and very wealthy brother (Maciej Zakościelny) is obsessed with his new nephew, which sparks a desire to be a dad.
Unfortunately, his wife (Katarzyna Skrzynecka) is too old to conceive, so they look for another way to start a family.
Meanwhile, scandal swirls around as a young mum turns up and claims surprise parentage for her young child.,
As with its predecessor, farce is to the fore in Anna Wieczur-Bluszcz's movie, and some of the gags run over from the previous instalment.
Some of its gags are obvious, but I suspect its audiences will lap it up, and number six will soon be on the cards.

Reasons to watch: Light-hearted franchise
Reasons to avoid: Patchy jokes

Laughs: Chuckles rather than laughs
Jumps: None
Vomit: None
Nudity: None
Overall rating: 6/10

Did you know? According to Catholic teachings, the intrusion of a third person into a couple’s relations is immoral and consequently the Polish Catholic Church, the dominant religion in the country, is strongly opposed to surrogacy.

The final word. Dorota Stalińska: "We worked a lot on this role after receiving the script. To get the most good humor out of this character. I hope that Honorata will really make you laugh and that it will be a success film." Dzienik.pl
