Blimey, it seems as dangerous to live in Sanctuary City as it does in Midsomer - the home of the murders.

Thus, there is a need for crimefighting superheroes: Combat Wombat (Deborah Mailman) and sidekick Sweetie (Ed Oxenbould).

Actually, at the beginning of Ricard Cussó and Tania Vincent's movie, the city is so easygoing that Combat is fed up with being asked to carry out mundane tasks.

That is until an old fella (Mark Coles Smith) suddenly bursts out of character to be involved in angry protests.

It then transpires that Lenny the chameleon (David Wenham) is a megalomaniac trying to control everyone in the city through an earpiece.

Thus, a confrontation ensues between him and our heroes.

Children enjoy familiarity, so Combat Wombat follows a similar path in each movie. Combat has more doubts about her role as a superhero, Sweetie feels unloved again and then our heroine is set up as a villain once more. 

But we all know that they will find a way to save the day and be loved again by the folk of Sanctuary City.

Combat Wombat: Double Trouble is a fast-paced, vibrant animation that teaches children right from wrong and the meaning of friendship.

It has a pleasing zest, and I can see why more franchises are on their way.

Did you know? Wombat claws, as well as bites, can cause puncture wounds in humans. They can charge at humans when startled and knock them down, resulting in shattered bones.
